Hinman Recognized as an Exceptional Employer
by & Diane Fontes
In 2011 Hinman ranked #5 among “The 2011 Best Structural Firms to Work For” and was also a “Hot Firm” award recipient by ZweigWhite. These designations have become synonymous with success in the industry.
The awards were given as a result of surveys taken by Hinman employees. The results are a direct reflection of the culture and environment cultivated by the team at Hinman. “The average person spends 80% of their time in the office, we have a great deal of pride as being recognized as a leader in what we do,” says Brian Katz, Project Engineer.
“There is a big benefit in recruiting to be named as best firm. We believe this recognition attracts high quality engineering candidates,” says Eve Hinman, President. “We have been trying to balance a great place to work, at the same time growing- it’s not always easy to keep culture invigorating. When you grow, pressure and demand increase and can create stress within our staff. This recognition has been energizing for our staff and is confirmation that we are doing something right”.
ZweigWhite panelists involved in selecting award winners acknowledged that this year is perhaps the most difficult year in history for architecture and engineering firms to consider applying for the "Best Firms To Work For" ranking. Certainly, all firms face challenges, but some are meeting them with more grace than others. It’s not about who had to make staff or benefits changes; it’s about who has had superior leadership, strong communication, and well-established values throughout these tough times.
The measurement of success isn’t solely based on the final outcome but by what it takes to get there. This recognition solidifies our commitment to our team and, in turn, our commitment to our clients to deliver our services with the highest level of integrity.
