Lincoln Tunnel Bus Terminal Ramp

Hinman evaluated the performance of four existing ramps at the Port Authority Bus Terminal for the effects of explosive attack and fire, and to provide concept level mitigation measures, as needed, to minimize downtime.

Hinman identified the most vulnerable columns in the Lincoln Tunnel Bus Ramp Complex and performed high-fidelity finite element analyses of the bus ramp columns subjected to standoff and contact charges.

The ramps are elevated roadways that link the PA Bus Terminal to Lincoln Tunnel and local streets.

As a part of these services, we reviewed available structural drawings and performed visual inspection of the site to validate field conditions and locate potential threat standoff distances and conducted high fidelity finite element analysis to assess the damages of the columns and suggested retrofit schemes. The design of the retrofitted columns was validated with finite analysis as well.
