As part of this study, Hinman performed an on-site investigation to document as-built conditions as well as identify needs for destructive investigation and/or material testing.

Hinman performed an on-site investigation to document as-built conditions as well as identify needs for destructive investigation and/or material testing.

Hinman evaluated the building for its ability to meet current AT/FP code requirements, including review of the site layout, exterior façade and building structure and included non-linear dynamic analysis for blast loading.

Where the existing condition was found to be insufficient Hinman worked with the design team and representatives of NAVFAC Pacific’s historical preservation board to identify and develop retrofit schemes that focused on minimizing cost and maintaining the facility’s historical aesthetic.

Upgrade solutions developed included providing new window systems, including glazing, framing and supporting structure, modification of structural connections, and strengthening of roof framing.
