P-617 Aviation Maintenance Support Complex

Hinman provided antiterrorism compliance and blast consulting services for renovation and new additions at the existing Buildings 229 and 1229 at Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, AZ.

Hinman worked closely with the design team and stakeholders to ensure implementation of the required level of protection throughout the project to provide a design which effectively incorporated antiterrorism features.

This project included the renovation of various shops (Bldg. 229 Engine Maintenance Shop, Bldg. 234 Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Shop, Bldg. 328 Storage Air/Ground units, & Bldg. 1229 Aviation Armament Shop) and design of two new additions at Bldg. 229 and Bldg. 1229.

The new addition at Bldg. 229 includes 2-stories and 3,400-SF of admin/training support spaces.

The new addition at Bldg. 1220 included 1-story and 7,600-SF of ordnance storage. Both additions were structurally isolated from the existing building and be of steel-framed/reinforced concrete masonry construction.

The overall Project Cost was $16.6 million with ‘Design to’ Construction Cost Limitation of $14.6 million.
