This project includes the design and construction of a new 100,000 GSF clinical expansion building serving to increase the Research Program space at this campus and the renovation and seismic upgrade of a 138,007 GSF existing facility (Building 1). This project will correct potentially hazardous seismic, life safety and infrastructure deficiencies, as well as consolidate outpatient programs and clinical research into a state of the art treatment facility located at the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System's Reno campus. The total estimated construction cost of this project is $175,000,000 and will follow the design - bid - build delivery method with the Joint Venture team of Page Southerland Page (PSP) and Stafford King Weise (SKW) serving a s the prime design consultant.

The engineering solutions developed by Hinman in response to the design criteria will be coordinated with the architect, operational security consultant, structural engineer, site civil engineer, landscape architect and MEP engineers.

Hinman is providing the design team with consulting engineering services related to the blast and perimeter site security requirements as defined in the referenced criteria documents. Hinman’s efforts included assisting the design team during pre - design submission to review different site options and identifying perimeter security requirements. During the Schematic phases of design , we identified the blast and perimeter site security requirements of the PSDM to the design team.

Hinman also explore d options and alternatives for achieving compliance with the requirements to identify design solutions and potential cost savings to the project. The Design Development phases involved an engineering - oriented design effort that includes coordination with t he design team to develop design solutions for implementation into DD drawings.

The Construction Document phase will involve an engineering - oriented design effort that includes coordination with the design team to finalize design solutions for implementation into CD drawings.

The construction administration phase will include Hinman’s services to support client efforts in reviewing contractor submittals and requests for information associated with the manufacture, supply, and installation of the blast resistant facade systems (i.e. windows, glazed doors, precast panels, etc.).
